Gotham FC Secures Historic Dove Sponsorship

The NWSL is gearing up for its 13th season, and NJ/NY Gotham FC is making headlines with a game-changing sponsorship. The club has signed a multi-year deal with Dove, marking the first time in years that Gotham will have a back-of-jersey sponsor. And it's not just any deal—this is the highest back-of-jersey sponsorship in NWSL history.
While financial terms remain undisclosed, it's confirmed that this deal surpasses the previous record set by Bay FC and Trader Joe’s, which exceeded $500,000 per year. This partnership isn't just about visibility; it's about shared values. Gotham FC and Dove both champion inclusivity and empowerment, making this collaboration a natural fit.
Gotham FC and Dove: A Perfect Match
“We want to create partnerships that add value to our fans, the community we serve, our brand, and the partner brand,” said Gotham’s Chief Business Officer Ryan Dillon. “We want to work with brands that are invested in our growth, and Dove checked all of those boxes.”
The synergy between Gotham and Dove is undeniable. Gotham’s “Keep Her in the Game” initiative, launched last year, tackles the troubling statistic that girls drop out of sports at twice the rate of boys by age 14. The program has already impacted over 500 young athletes, with a goal to double that reach in 2025. Now, with Dove as the presenting sponsor, the initiative is set to expand even further.
Dove’s Commitment to Empowering Young Athletes
Dove has been actively working to address body confidence issues among young female athletes. Their “Body Confident Sport” program, introduced in 2023, provides coaching tools for 11 to 17-year-old girls to help them build confidence and stay in sports. Their Super Bowl ad this year reinforced their commitment to empowering young athletes, making this partnership with Gotham FC even more impactful.
The NWSL’s Soaring Growth
Beyond sponsorships, the NWSL as a whole is on an upward trajectory. Team valuations are soaring, with the average team now worth $104 million—an astonishing 57% jump from the previous year. New expansion clubs like Denver, which joined for a record $110 million fee, signal the league’s rapid growth. Gotham itself is thriving, fresh off its 2023 NWSL Championship. Last year, the club secured a front-of-jersey sponsor in CarMax, saw a 36% increase in per-game attendance, and boosted revenue by an impressive 60%.
What’s Next for Gotham FC?
Gotham kicks off its 2025 season on March 15, ready to defend its title while making an even bigger impact off the field. As Dillon put it, “We’re a sports team, and we exist to win, but we do feel we have a bigger purpose.”
