Extension of the Professional Sports Fund Approved for 2025 – Cappelletti: "An Important and Positive Signal"
Thanks to an amendment in the Milleproroghe decree, €4 million has been allocated to support women's sports. "A crucial step that strengthens the path already started with the FIGC and, through the definition of structural measures, will help us achieve sustainability," commented the president of the Women's Serie A Professional Division.
With the approval of the Milleproroghe legislative decree in the Senate, the extension of the professional sports fund for women's sports has been confirmed. This measure secures an additional €4 million for 2025, ensuring the continuity of ongoing projects aimed at fostering the sector’s long-term development. The news has been warmly welcomed by the FIGC, the only federation that officially transitioned to professionalism in 2022.
"This is an important and positive signal," said Federica Cappelletti, president of the Women's Serie A Professional Division. "We are pleased with the extension, and as discussed with Minister Andrea Abodi, we are hopeful that this initiative can be further expanded to support long-term planning. This is a key milestone that reinforces the progress made with the FIGC, and through structured measures, we aim to achieve the goal of sustainability at the highest levels of women's sports."
